• “Rod Serling, creator of The Twilight Zone series, could have drawn together a full season of episodes after reading this riveting sci-fi thriller. I came away from it haunted by its masterful display of the wondrous intricacies of human nature.”
    – Mike Green, author, Path of Thunder

“A tremendously moving human story that concentrates on the gradual dismantling and transitioning of the old life of the main character, to his rebirth and growth built upon adversity and dire situations. An unpredictable, fascinating, and intriguing tale of loss, death, and redemption.”
—Terry McFadden, Hollywood Story analyst and produced playwright

“This is a near-future science fiction action novel with three main settings. The unifying aspect is the end of the Maya calendar in 2012: is this really the end of the world coming? The story lines are interesting [and] the novel is hard-hitting with a smashing conclusion.”
—Piers Anthony, New York Times bestselling author of the Geodyssey series

  • Summary: In the weeks before December 21, 2012, most people dismiss the pop culture hysteria over ancient Mayan apocalypse predictions as little more than a reason to have another holiday party. Harried office drone Steve Soto doesn’t think much of the end-of-the-world frenzy either—until his life takes a series of bizarre turns. Mysteriously growing stronger and experiencing the best luck of his life, Steve finds himself cast in the role of protector when his girlfriend becomes the unwitting target of a ruthless assassin. As he searches for reasons why anyone would want to kill her, he discovers that he too is linked to the ominous plans of an unstable billionaire tech mogul. Intertwined is a parallel storyline millennia removed from 2012, as a young warrior-prince grapples with the enigma of a mysterious glowing rock and a neighboring clan that seems to possess powerful and destructive magic. As both stories barrel toward explosive collisions, the fate of humanity remains tied to a nearly three thousand-year-old prophecy. Author Robert Zitella delivers an epic, action-filled tale that will keep readers guessing until the world-shaking conclusion.

  • HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CALENDAR

The Mayan Civilization spanned parts of Mexico and Central America between 2000 BC and 1500 AD. Mayans excelled in language, art, astronomy, and architecture. As we approach 2012, they are increasingly becoming known for their calendars as well.

The Mayans invented many different types of calendars, some very accurate, some not. They invented primarily three types of calendars: the divine calendar, the civil calendar, and the long count calendar. Using various codes and symbols, the calendars seem complex. An example of a date on the calendar would be 12.18.16.2.6, 3 Cimi 4 Zotz. The divine and civil calendars deal with weeks, months, and years. The long count calendar of the Mayans began in 3114 BC, and interestingly, ends December 21, 2012.

Why do some people believe the end of the Mayan calendar may mean something for today’s world? There are many interesting mysteries surrounding the Mayan Civilization’s fall that fuel these myths. Also at 11:11 pm on December 21, 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. Did the Maya provide us with an end of the world prophecy? We shall see on 12/21/2012.
